1. Who is responsible
Anasu is developed and operated by the WizIT Association, Chemin des Fourcles 13, 1985 La Forclaz VS, Switzerland.
For any question about this policy or your data: info@wizit.org.
2. What Anasu does
Anasu is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app for adults who speak little or not at all: a grid of tiles that say words and phrases with the device's own voice. It is described on its page.
A person's boards can say something about their health ("I am in pain", "Medicines"). This is why Anasu keeps them with the person, and nowhere else.
3. On the device
Everything needed to speak is stored on the device, in the browser's storage: the boards and their tiles, the images, the photos taken in the app, the sentence being composed, the settings. This is how Anasu works without the Internet and without an account.
The app also keeps a technical log of the last 200 events (for example "a tile was touched", "sync done"). It contains no word, no sentence, no tile label. It only leaves the device if someone exports it themselves, in the settings.
4. With a Google account (optional)
To find the same boards on several devices, a Google account can be connected. Anasu then writes, in that account's Google Drive, a folder named Anasu that holds two files:
espace.json: the boards (what each tile shows and says, its place, its chosen image);profil.json: the lock setting, and the fingerprint of the code if there is one (never the code itself).
Photos taken in the app stay on the device: they do not go to Drive.
At sign-in, Google asks you to allow Anasu to access "only the specific files that you use with this app". Anasu therefore only sees the files it created itself. The rest of your Drive is invisible to it.
Anasu also asks for your Google name and email address, to show which account is connected and to notice a change of account (it then asks what to do, and does not mix the boards of two people). This information stays on the device. The token that keeps you signed in is kept encrypted on the device.
5. What our servers see
Our servers run on Google Cloud (Cloud Run, region europe-west1, Belgium). They serve the app, the image pack to download, and the sign-in exchange with Google.
- No board, no word, no sentence goes through them.
- During sign-in, Google's tokens pass through them for the time of the exchange: they are neither kept nor logged. Our logs only record whether the exchange succeeded or failed.
- Anasu keeps no account with us: no name, no email address.
The Google Cloud Run platform keeps its own infrastructure logs (IP address, browser, address requested). They are kept for 30 days, then deleted automatically.
6. Third-party services
| Service | What is sent to it | When |
|---|---|---|
| Google (sign-in and Drive) | The two files of point 4; the sign-in request | Only if a Google account is connected |
| ARASAAC (Government of Aragon, Spain), the pictogram bank | The word searched for; the number of an image to download, which can tell which word it is; the IP address | The word, only when someone touches "Search more images online". An image, when it is missing on the device |
When you type a word in the editor, the image search happens on the device first, in the downloaded image pack: nothing is sent.
The voice is the device's own (iPhone, iPad, Android): Anasu hands it the text to say. Anasu does not send this text over the Internet.
What is never sent: your Google password (Anasu never sees it), the content of the rest of your Drive, and the photos taken in the app.
7. No advertising, no audience measurement
Anasu contains no advertising, no audience measurement and no cookie. It sends us nothing of what the person touches or says.
8. How long
- On the device: until you erase the app's data.
- In your Drive: until you delete the
Anasufolder. - Our servers' infrastructure logs: 30 days.
9. Your rights, and how to erase everything
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), you can ask what data we hold, and have it corrected or deleted: write to info@wizit.org. Since we keep neither accounts nor boards, most of the data is with you, and you can erase it yourself:
- sign out: in Anasu, tap the account circle at the top right, then "Sign out", and tap again to confirm (the boards stay on the device);
- remove Anasu's access to your account: myaccount.google.com/permissions;
- delete the boards from your Drive: delete the
Anasufolder; - delete the data on the device: remove Anasu from the home screen and erase the site's data in the browser settings.
10. If this policy changes
The date at the top of this page says when it last changed. A new feature that would send other data would only be added together with an update of this page.
