1. What these terms cover
These terms govern the use of WizMac Explorer, a file manager for macOS published by the Association WizIT, Chemin des Fourcles 13, 1985 La Forclaz VS, Switzerland.
Downloading or using the app means accepting them.
2. Your licence: free, for non-commercial use
WizMac Explorer is licensed to you under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. Under that licence you may use, copy and share the app free of charge, for any purpose that is not commercial.
Non-commercial use includes:
- personal and family use;
- schools, universities, and academic research;
- associations, foundations and charities, for their non-commercial work;
- public administrations and hospitals, for their public service work.
Any other use is commercial and needs a separate licence from us — for example installing the app in a company, using it to deliver a paid service, reselling it, or including it in a product you sell. Write to info@wizit.org. We answer, and the terms are reasonable.
This section is a summary, written to be readable. The official text of the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0 is the licence that actually applies, and it wins if the two ever disagree.
3. What you may not do
Beyond what the licence itself says, you agree not to:
- remove or hide the name of the app or of the Association WizIT;
- distribute a changed copy under the same name, in a way that could make people think it comes from us;
- use the app to break the law, or to get at data you have no right to.
4. The app is provided as it is
WizMac Explorer is provided "as is", with no warranty of any kind. We do not promise it is free of errors, that it fits your purpose, or that it will keep working after a macOS update.
A file manager moves and deletes real files. Copy, move, rename, Move to Trash and Delete permanently do what they say. "Delete permanently" cannot be undone, by us or by anyone. Keep a backup of anything that matters to you. That is true of any file manager, including Finder, and it is true here.
5. macOS shows a warning the first time
The app is not signed with an Apple developer certificate, because WizIT is a non-profit association and does not hold one. macOS therefore refuses to open it the first time, and you have to allow it once in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
This means macOS cannot confirm to you who built the file. Only download it from wizit.org. A copy that reaches you by any other route is not one we can vouch for.
6. Apple Silicon only
The app runs on Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and newer). It does not run on an Intel Mac. There is also no automatic update: a new version has to be downloaded from this site.
7. Privacy
The app never connects to the internet and collects nothing. See the privacy policy.
8. Support
There is no support contract and no guaranteed answer time. We do read our mail: info@wizit.org.
9. Liability
As far as the law allows, the Association WizIT cannot be held liable for indirect damage arising from the use of the app, including lost data, lost files, lost time or lost profit.
Nothing here limits a liability that cannot legally be limited, in particular in case of gross negligence.
10. Ending the licence
Your licence ends if you break its terms. The PolyForm licence gives you 32 days to put things right after we tell you, the first time. When the licence ends, stop using the app and delete your copies.
We may also stop publishing the app at any time. Copies already downloaded keep working; we simply stop offering new ones.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by Swiss law. The place of jurisdiction is the seat of the Association WizIT, in La Forclaz (VS), subject to any mandatory place of jurisdiction.
12. Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version. A change never takes away rights the PolyForm licence already gave you for a copy you have.
