1. Purpose
These terms govern the use of Anasu, a communication app published by the Association WizIT, Chemin des Fourcles 13, 1985 La Forclaz VS, Switzerland.
Using Anasu means accepting them.
2. What Anasu does
Anasu is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app for adults who speak little or not at all: a grid of tiles that say words and sentences with the device's voice. It is described on its page.
Anasu is free and has no advertising. It works without the Internet and without an account. What it does with data is described in the privacy policy.
3. What Anasu is not
Anasu is not a medical device, and it has no medical purpose. It makes no diagnosis, proposes no treatment, monitors nothing, and replaces no medical, therapeutic, educational or social follow-up. The starter boards are an example of vocabulary, not a care programme.
Anasu is not an emergency service. It calls no one and sends no alert.
4. The voice can go quiet
Anasu speaks with the device's voice. This voice can go quiet, for example: silent mode on the iPhone or iPad, volume turned off, flat battery, device lost, broken or out of order, system update. Anasu reminds you that silent mode cuts the voice and offers "Check sound", but it cannot guarantee that it will be heard.
Always keep another way to communicate, for example a paper board, and make sure the people around the person know about it.
5. The role of carers and professionals
A carer or a professional often sets up Anasu with the person: they choose the words, the images and the settings. It is up to them to check that these suit the person, and to judge with the person whether Anasu helps.
A person's boards can say something about their life and their health. Only put in them what the person agrees to see there.
6. The boards belong to the person
What the person and those close to them put into Anasu (boards, tiles, photos) belongs to them. This data stays on the device and, if a Google account is connected, in its Google Drive. We do not see it.
You are responsible for backing it up. Anasu offers a backup (Settings › Boards), and reminds you when it is time to make a new one. Clearing the browser's data erases the boards on the device.
For a photo you add, you must have the right to use it, and the agreement of the people it shows.
7. The pictograms
The pictograms come from ARASAAC. Author: Sergio Palao. Owner: Government of Aragon (Spain). Licence: CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
This licence allows free use, not commercial use. If you share or export boards that contain these pictograms, they stay under this licence: you must credit ARASAAC, not sell them, and share them under the same licence.
8. What you may do with Anasu
You may use Anasu free of charge, for yourself or for the people you support, at home or in an institution.
Your boards, including those you made from the starter boards, you may export and share, for a non-commercial purpose (the pictograms stay under their licence, point 7). The OBZ export opens in other communication apps.
The app itself, its code and its name belong to the Association WizIT. You may not copy it, sell it, or offer it as part of a paid service without our written agreement.
9. The lock
The long press and the code that protect board editing are a safeguard against changes made by accident, not a security measure. They do not protect the data from someone who has the unlocked device or the Google account.
10. Google account (optional)
A Google account lets you find the same boards on several devices. You are responsible for this account, its security and the storage space of its Drive. An outage at Google stops syncing, never speech: the device keeps its boards.
11. Availability
Anasu is provided as is, with no guarantee of availability or of freedom from errors. It is still changing (see its page).
We may change, suspend or stop Anasu. The boards stay on the device and in each person's Drive, and the backup lets you keep them.
12. Liability
Within the limits allowed by applicable law, we cannot be held liable for indirect damage resulting from the use of Anasu, for a voice that was not heard, or for the loss of boards that had not been backed up.
Nothing in these terms limits a liability that cannot legally be limited, in particular in the case of gross negligence.
13. Applicable law
These terms are governed by Swiss law. The place of jurisdiction is the seat of the Association WizIT, subject to mandatory places of jurisdiction.
14. If these terms change
The date at the top of this page says when they last changed. For any question: info@wizit.org.
